ATTENTION PHS FUNDED RESEARCHERS:

  • Access to New Mandatory Training for PHS Researchers:

Log in to the UC Learning Center using your UCD LoginID and Kerberos password.

Search for keyword "COI-PHS" in the UC Learning Center search bar on the left of your screen.

Select the Conflict of Interest class, and click "Start."  The online course will then launch.

Students and Affiliates: You will need to contact SDPS (sdps@ucdavis.edu) to create an LMS user account to access the PHS COI training module.

 

The Conflict of Interest Committee (COIC) is comprised of faculty members from different disciplines across campus and the Health System. The COIC reviews the disclosure to determine whether an actual or potential conflict of interest exists and, if so, recommends how the interest can be reduced, managed or eliminated so the research can proceed. The Research Compliance & Integrity unit provides administrative support to the COIC.

Not all financial interests constitute conflicts of interest. Additionally, having a conflict of interest is not fatal to a research proposal – however, if the COIC determines there is an actual or potential conflict, the research can proceed only if the conflict is managed, reduced or eliminated. Some management strategies include, but are not limited to, public disclosure of the financial interest, oversight by a management sub-committee and divestment of the interest.
