FAPESP Week at UC Davis: Two-day event features speakers showcasing common research endeavors between UC Davis and Brazilian institutions

November 20-21

The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), one of Brazil’s principal research funding agencies, will gather Brazilian and U.S. researchers as part of their FAPESP Week in California with a symposium hosted at UC Davis on November 20-21.

A delegation of more than thirty distinguished Brazilian researchers and representatives from FAPESP will travel to UC Davis after opening the week at UC Berkeley and meeting with leaders from the California Academy of Sciences and Exploratorium in San Francisco. Together with complementary speakers from UC Davis, they will address topics of common research interest and engage in discussions of opportunities for collaboration through research exchanges.  Session themes will include sustainable energies, environmental and marine sciences, agriculture, health, and social sciences and humanities.

The visit will also showcase an art exhibition, “Brazilian Nature: Mystery and Destiny”, displaying a taste of the biological wealth of the region and some of the scientific efforts to preserve it. The art exhibit will be available for viewing during the symposium on the second and third floors of the upper Mondavi Center lobby.

The UC Davis Offices of Research and Global Affairs extend a cordial invitation to this two-day event showcasing the common research endeavors between UC Davis and our esteemed Brazilian colleagues.
