TMCR Extern Showcase at Office of Research

Current and former externs

Current and former externs at the Office of Research, April 10, 2017. On April 10, students who have been working as part of Technology Management and Corporate Relations teams had an opportunity to showcase their work and highlight some of the unique projects they have been part of through externships with Office of Research units. Over the years, three different programs have been launched to offer experiences related to technology transfer and corporate relations to students while they are in the process of completing their degrees.

Jason Churchill

Jason Churchill is a current InnovationAccess law extern.

This showcase included representatives from each of these different programs, including Jennifer Lien and Neilia Gracias, InnovationAccess Scientific/Technical externs; Steven Grossenbacher, Office of Corporate Relations Biopharma extern; and Jason Churchill, InnovationAccess Law Student extern. Harold Guo, who was not able to attend the event, is also InnovationAccess Law Student extern this quarter.

In addition to the current externs, InnovationAccess invited back one of their former student, including Natalie James, who spoke about how her experience working with the intellectual property team was exceptionally valuable for her current career path.

These programs provide exposure and training in intellectual property protection and industry engagement, areas that are outside the scope of most educational programs. In addition, the students bring external viewpoints and scientific perspectives that are tremendously valuable to the work of our teams.

Thank you to each of the staff leads for these programs for their assistance in coordinating this event, along with all the staff whose guidance and project suggestions are critical to providing the best possible opportunities for our students to learn and actively engage with our business functions.
