Students are encouraged to participate in internships in industry for academic credit that requires—in addition to work in the company—a research paper with relevant assignments directed by a faculty adviser, as long as the adviser does not have a significant financial interest in the company. Oftentimes a company sponsoring a student for an internship will ask the student to sign an agreement to protect the company’s proprietary information. This agreement is between the student and the company. UC Davis Tech Transfer will review this agreement if requested. Please see the Internship & Career Center website for more information.
