Gozde Goncu-Berk

Dr. Gozde Goncu-Berk is an Associate Professor of Design at the University of California, Davis where she directs her research group under WearLab. Professor Berk’s research focuses on human-centered design of textile-based wearable products for people with special needs, such as those suffering from chronic diseases, the disabled, elderly and children. Her work explores the possibilities of electronic textiles and smart clothing including new material and digital fabrication technologies to facilitate design for variety of body types, environmental and activity-based contexts.
Katia Vega
Associate Professor of Design

Katia Vega is an Associate Professor at UC Davis, heading the Interactive Organisms Lab, where she drives innovation in interface design for human-device symbiosis. Her work includes Beauty Technology, merging electronics with cosmetics, Body Modification Technologies, incorporating biosensors into tattoos and dental orthodontics for biofluid sensing, and Growable Interfaces, crafting sustainable interfaces using bio-based materials. Previously a Postdoc Associate at MIT Media Lab, she earned her PhD and master’s in Computer Science from PUC-Rio (Brazil), conducted research in the Fine Arts Department at HKBU (Hong Kong), and completed her undergraduate studies in Computer Science at UNMSM (Peru).
