Animal Care
The Office of Research provides oversight for the use and care of animals in research at UC Davis. Led by the Campus Attending Veterinarian, this division is organized into the following three units. While each serve a unique purpose, together they ensure the humane care and use of animals in research and teaching at UC Davis.
Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) oversees the university’s animal care and use program and is responsible for reviewing all animal use protocols and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations
The Campus Attending Veterinarian (CVS) is responsible for ensuring that adequate and humane veterinary care is provided to the research and teaching animals at UC Davis
Teaching and Research Animal Care Services (TRACS) is the main animal care unit that provides daily care and oversight of animals used in teaching and research
