October 20: LLNL Workshop on Food & Agriculture Security
Join us on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at the Student Community Center on the UC Davis campus for a full-day, in-person joint symposium on Food & Agriculture Security. This event is part of an ongoing series of UCD-LLNL engagements designed to bring together researchers from both institutions to explore emerging challenges, share capabilities and recent findings, and identify opportunities for future collaboration.
The symposium will feature research presentations, networking and strategy discussions, and information about funding opportunities. Participants will hear about Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory priorities in key research areas and will have dedicated time to connect with colleagues from UC Davis and LLNL to build new interdisciplinary collaborations.
Symposium Topics
- Nutrition, Food & Human Health. Exploring how advanced measurement technologies, computation, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology are expanding our understanding of the relationships among food, the microbiome, and human health.
- Plant Pathogens & Agricultural Biosecurity. Advancing detection, characterization, surveillance, and prediction of emerging and high-consequence plant pathogens that threaten agricultural systems.
- Cybersecurity & Resilience of Food and Agricultural Systems. Examining vulnerabilities created by the increasing digitization and automation of agriculture and food systems, and identifying opportunities to strengthen security and resilience.
Additional Information
- The day will conclude with an afternoon reception and poster session.
- Postdoctoral scholars and senior graduate students are encouraged to present posters.
- Dedicated discussion time throughout the day will help participants identify shared interests and potential research partnerships.
- A quiet workspace will be available for attendees who need to step away for virtual meetings during the event.
- Light breakfast refreshments and lunch will be provided.
Please register using the event registration form and indicate whether you plan to present a poster so that we can ensure adequate poster board space.
