Accreditation and oversight

Animal care at UC Davis is regulated by several independent resources:

UC Davis’ IACUC (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee) oversees the university’s animal care and use program and is responsible for reviewing all animal use protocols and amendments, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, inspecting animal facilities and laboratories, and overseeing training and educational programs.

If you have an animal related emergency, please contact Campus Veterinary Services at 530-219-3076. If you have an urgent protocol or amendment concern that potentially impacts animal welfare, please contact our office at 752-2364, to speak to a specialist or leave a voice mail message and/or send an email message to the IACUC staff at [email protected].

Protocols listing hazardous chemicals and that require additional Chemical Safety review are taking longer than normal to process due to staff shortages within EH&S. If you need to request expedited review please contact the IACUC office at [email protected] and provide written justification for the request. Thank you for your understanding.
