International Research Partnerships & Engagement

Our Strategic Initiatives and Research Funding team works with the Office of Global Affairs and campus units to advance collaborative research with a number of international institutions, responding to national and global initiatives, upcoming funding opportunities, and priority partnership requests.

2019 Food Security and Innovation Symposium attendees

Attendees of the 2019 “Food Security and Food Innovation” workshop hosted by UC Davis and the University of Sydney, bringing together researchers from eight countries and nine institution over two days to build upon complementary scientific expertise to address critical global challenges around food.

2021 Joint symposium on sustainable cities attendees.

Attendees of the September 2021 “Joint Symposium on Sustainable Cities” hosted by UC Davis and Osaka University to build collaboration across the fields of sustainable cities and energy research.

Ongoing Engagement Spotlight:

Commonwealth Scientific & Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) – Australia

The Office of Research has managed the UC Davis partnership with the Australian national science agency since 2017.  A collaboration agreement was signed in April 2018 – CSIRO’s first major collaborative agreement with a U.S. university – and renewed in March 2023 for an additional five years.   The partnership encourages scientists and research facilities across the globe, including more than 4,500 CSIRO scientists, to seamlessly collaborate across disciplines.

Past Programs & Event Highlights


University of Sydney

The University of Sydney and the University of California, Davis signed a partnership agreement promoting research collaborations and academic exchange, including via a joint seed funding program to encourage further research collaborations in all disciplines.  Key areas of collaboration include food security, human health, animal health, and the environment.
