Standards Of Care Program Policies

The Standards of Care Program Policies are approved by The Attending Veterinarian. These standards are also reviewed by the IACUC. The SOP Management program is designed to standardize the care provided to the UC Davis research and teaching animals. The Standards of Care provide a baseline for routine procedures carried out in animal facilities. Some facilities will have increased frequency or more intensive requirements, those are reflected in local SOPs that follow the format outlined below. All animal facilities must meet or exceed these standards, deviations from these standards must be justified to the IACUC and documented in an approved animal use and care protocol and/or IACUC issued acknowledgment of the deviation. For editable files (word docs) or questions about the program please contact [email protected] or [email protected]

  • Important Note: Humidity Monitoring is required in all indoor animal facilities housing research and teaching animals. Daily monitoring, and recording of individual room humidity is required, documentation of the high and low humidity values is required.
