electronic Research Administration (eRA)

This page first lists eRA systems used to prepare and submit grant applications to sponsors, and then lower down lists internal eRA systems used by UC Davis (jump down with this link) to conduct research administration processes and transactions.

Primary Grant Application and Submission System

  • Cayuse Research Suite
    • Cayuse SP: Use this system to internally route proposal materials and Advance Account requests for review, certification and authorization (per UC policy). Can be used to track statuses and view documents for proposals, awards and subawards.
    • Cayuse 424: Submit most proposals to federal sponsors (in place of grants.gov Workspace).

Other Sponsor Systems

  • DoD eBRAP: Dept of Defense (DoD) portal used to submit pre-applications for the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP).
  • DoE PAMS: Department of Energy (DoE) system in support of basic research in the physical sciences.
  • DoJ JustGrants: Dept of Justice (DoJ) grants management system. Each user needs an individual account. Send an email to spoerahelp@ucdavis.edu for assistance.
  • eRA CommonsSupports the full life cycle of NIH grants, and includes NIH ASSIST (the proposal submission module). View eRA Commons Training Videos and other help resources on the eRA Commons Help page.
  • FAAST: System allows potential funding recipients to apply for grant and loan funding offered by various State agencies.
  • GrantSolutions: System supports numerous Federal agencies throughout the full grants lifecycle – from pre-award planning through application, award, and closeout.
    • FAQs. Once you have an account in this system and are logged in, select the question mark icon in the upper right for assistance.
  • NASA NSPIRES: System supports NASA research from the release of solicitation announcements through the peer review and selection processes.
  • NIH ASSIST: System used to prepare and submit applications electronically to NIH and other Public Health Service agencies.
  • NOAA Grants Online: eRA system for proposals to NOAA. View the NOAA Grants Online Program Management Offices training resources.
  • NSF FastLane: Supports the full life cycle of NSF grants.
  • Proposal Central: Grants system used by more than 100 non-profit and government funding organizations in health, biomedical and scientific research.
  • Research.govFull, research non-collaborative proposals may be submitted to NSF either in FastLane or Research.gov.
  • UCOP SmartSimple: System used by the Research Grants Program Office (RGPO) at the University of California Office of the President.
  • USDA ezFedGrants (eFG): System to apply for and manage USDA grants and agreements online.
  • xTrain: eRA Commons module that allows program directors/principal investigators, university administrators, and trainees to electronically prepare and submit PHS 2271 Statement of Appointment Forms and PHS 416-7 Termination Notices associated with institutional research training grants, institutional career development awards, individual fellowships, and research education awards.
  • Links to other eRA systems and their associated help resources are available in the eRA Systems Matrix (downloadable PDF).

UC Davis Systems

  • UC Biosafety: Biological Use Authorizations (BUAs) are required for research involving certain activities or materials, such as recombinant DNA technology, work with infectious agents, work with human or non-human primate materials, or the storage of biohazardous materials. BUA applications are approved by the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC).
  • eCOIAllows investigators to electronically sign and submit all financial conflict of interest (COI) disclosures online, regardless of the disclosure requirements imposed by the funding source.
  • IACUC ApplicationAnimal Care and Use Protocols must be approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) before any activities (research, teaching, or testing) are conducted on live, vertebrate-animals. This online application will assist you in submitting your activities.
  • IRBNet: A robust set of electronic tools supporting the management, submission, review and oversight of human subjects research protocols.
  • Pivot: Comprehensive, editorially maintained database of funding opportunities.
  • Research Core Facilities Program: Enables access to state-of-the-art research equipment and services around campus.
  • InfoReady Review: An online system in which the researcher can search for internal funding opportunities and apply to Limited Submission opportunities (extramural programs that require internal coordination).
